Welcome to the website of the Asian American Cultural Center! Our
mission is to provide the facilities, expertise and unique space Amy Wong Mok, President & CEO Amy Wong Mok was born in Hong Kong and came to the United States in 1975 for her college education. Ms. Mok received her B.Sc. in Human Services and M. Ed. in Community and Mental Health Counseling at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. After graduation Ms. Mok worked as a Psychotherapist and was the Director of an after school program at the South Cove Community Health Center in Boston before she moved to Austin, Texas with her husband in 1983. She became the Director of Public Education at the Austin Rape Crisis Center until 1996. Subsequently, she was elected President of the Board of TAASA (Texas Association Against Sexual Assault), a non-profit umbrella organization for local programs in Texas. During her tenure, she secured $250,000 in funding to set up a statewide office for TAASA. Ms. Mok is a firm believer that the strength of the U.S. lies in our diversity. She is active at the local, state and national levels in harnessing this strength to advance the common good. Ms. Mok resides in Austin with her husband who is a Professor of Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin.
